And.....they sucked.

I just had my first session with them (my friend had a box) and first of all, took forever to light on the stove. Second of all, they gave off this bad charcoal taste while smoking. Yes they were fully cooked, glowing red. I even waited for them to ash over and tried again.....still crap.

My friend also experienced this while smoking his shisha.

Anyone else thats not on the coconara bandwagon experience this?

I agree. They imparted a weird taste that is very noticable coming from smoking Golden Canary's all the time.

They aren't terrible but I've had better. Gotta finish off this monster of a box now Edited by MechAnt

CocoNaras have never disappointed me.

As for getting them on..throw them on the stove then go prepare your bowl. By the time you come back, flip it to the other side for a minute or two and they are done.

I am going to guess that you guys had some bad batches.

+1 That is exactly how I light them

the samples i tried did take a little long to light, I could smell the coconut in the coal, they did alter the taste of the shisha, it made the shisha taste a little sweeter.
overall the coal wasnt too bad, it lasted for at least an hour.
I wish they were wider so you dont have to use 2 of them everytime you smoke.
everyone is in love with these coals, so I would be foolish not to carry it.
i love the whole idea of making natural coal from coconut shells.

cocos FTW. I don;t notice a taste with. Matter of fact I noticed a different taste when I recently ran out of cocos and used some japanese style coals. Cocos have no taste.

I can not see any taste coming from coco's. They are made from coconut shell so to taste coal, means you did something wrong maybe I dunno. I have never tasted anything from coco's. These are the best coal on the market, no smells while lighting or smoking. Very strange you had this happen. You are used to using you Jap lights and they impart a taste. so I think you are tasting what is left over in your bowl and stem and not the cocos, you are getting the taste of your previous coals. That is how good cocos are. You taste nothing but the shisha or the gunk left behind.

You are right about the taste, but that is the REAL taste of your Shisha!! I only used Jap coals 3 times and I did not like them. I believe everyone here that uses them. Eric uses them so they must be good!

I just got some Coco's in the mail yesterday for the first time because everyone on this forum raves so much about them, put two of them on a phunnel w/ mod with X on the beach and I have to say that I will never buy another coal. I was so impressed, there was no odor while they were being lit, half an hour into my session the coals were still more than half their beginning size, the ash wasn't 5%, but it was negligible compared to other coals, and the only taste they imparted on my bowl was coconut, but that may have been part of the x on the beach. 100% satisfied customer.

I love Coco nara's. I need to order more cause I used up my 84 count box like a week and a half ago. I'll have to go with everyone else and say that is was a bad batch because the CoCo Nara's I used are excellent. A++

I use coco's and im a fanboi by no means. i do like how they dont taste like anything liek exoticas do. I dont like that in my box, no matter how long i let them light, they are not as carefree as others have said they are. I have to flip the coal about every 3-4 hits before it goes out on the bottom. It could be the humidity here or it could just be the bo i got. But overall they are the best i have tried so far. I will try the belgins and the canary's soon though.

I've got both the Canary coals and Coco Nara's and the the the coco's are better. Those goldens definately have a taste and don't provide enough heat at all. Also Coco's do sometimes have a slight smell when you light them but never impart a taste.

As for the one side going out i don't really worry about it. Just flip it half way though the session when you ash the coals and they'll be good to go.

All right so I decided to buy a small box of coco naras because I want to try them out and well they were made in Lebanon...bias mayb? haha. Anyway just dealing with Master Sales themselves to buy the box I have already had a very good experience in customer service even tho it hasnt even shipped yet. They emailed me soon after I placed my order to see if it was ok to but it in a bubble envelope instead of a priority box since it was so small of an order. They said that if anything breaks they will replace it and we had a nice little conversation. They are really kind and reply VERY fast to my emails. I placed my order around 4:20ish pm and got an email at 4:43 pm and they replied to the email that I sent within 15 min. I really like these guys and I think from now on I will just buy straight from them unless I can get a package deal with another vendor. I will post some kind of review when I get these coals and use them

I highly doubt it was a bad batch.... also my hookah was clean as it could be and i definitely did not do anything wrong.

Whatever i guess, to each his own. I wont ever be buying coco naras.

Canary Jap coals FTW! Edited by racemyghost
